Al-Hijrah School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our pupils.  We recognise that all adults, including temporary staff, volunteers and governors, have a full and active part to play in protecting our pupils from harm, and that the pupil’s welfare is our paramount concern.

Our aim is to establish an environment where pupils feel secure, are encouraged to talk and are listened to when they have a worry or concern. Parents/carers may also contact us where they have concerns about the welfare or safety of their child.

We have a Safeguarding Policy in place.  All staff (including supply staff, volunteers and governors) must ensure that they are aware of this policy. Parents and carers are welcome to read the Policy which is available under the ‘Policies’ section of this website.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a pupil’s welfare.

We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the pupil’s welfare.

We have a team of Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL):

Saima Khan (Assistant Head)

Shawkat Chowdhury (Deputy Head)

Amjid Hussain (Pastoral Lead)

Our Safeguarding Governor is:

Richard Beamish
